Scrolling: This refers to the core structure of the border. It's based on a continuous, flowing, C-shaped or S-shaped curve (a volute). Think of the graceful spirals found in traditional scrollwork or acanthus leaves.
Petal: This is the decorative element that grows from the scrolls. These are not just simple circles; they are organic, floral shapes that taper at the base and are often softly rounded at the tip. They can resemble rose petals, lily petals, or simple, elegant leaf forms.
