The goal is to create a continuous border where heart shapes are intertwined or framed by elegant scrollwork (also called foliate or volute designs).

Symmetry: Typically mirrored on a central vertical axis for each heart unit.

Flow: The scrolls should create a rhythmic, repeating pattern that connects each heart seamlessly.

Negative Space: The areas cut out are as important as the material remaining. Ensure scroll details aren't too thin to machine.
