1. The Structural "T-Frame" Design
Most horizontal pillar designs utilize a T-shaped bed casting. This provides a rigid foundation for the two primary moving assemblies:

The Column (Pillar): Moves along the Z-axis (towards and away from the part) or X-axis (side to side).

The Worktable: Usually sits on a bed that moves perpendicular to the column.
