Designing a Chain Line Pillar for a CNC machine is a specialized engineering task. The "pillar" (or column) is the backbone of the machine’s structural integrity, and the "chain line" usually refers to the alignment of the drive system or the tool changer mechanism relative to that pillar.
To get a CNC design right, you have to balance static stiffness (resistance to bending) and dynamic stiffness (vibration dampening).
