Imagine the thickness of your material's edge. A "full border" is carved on the face, near the edge. A "center half border" is carved so that the centerline of the design runs along the very corner of the material.

On a Rectangular Panel: The design is centered on the arris (the sharp edge).

On a Rounded Panel: The design follows the curve, with half its width on the top and half on the side.
This creates a sophisticated look that frames the piece without dominating the main surface.
