1. Core Design Principles for CNC

  • Closed Vectors: CNC machines (especially laser/plasma/router) require closed, continuous paths to cut. An arrow outline must be a single, unbroken loop.

  • Kerf Awareness: The material removed by the cutting tool (kerf) affects fit. For inlays or press-fit borders, you must compensate (usually in the CAD/CAM software).

  • Minimum Detail: Ensure line thickness and arrowhead details are larger than your tool diameter. A 1/8" (3.175mm) bit cannot cut a 1mm wide notch.
